General

How much does asphalt paving cost in Houston?

Cost depends on the area being paved, the base work needed, asphalt thickness, access for equipment, and whether old pavement has to be removed first. We give a written estimate after looking at the site.

How long does an asphalt driveway or parking lot last?

With a sound base, good drainage and regular maintenance, asphalt pavement commonly lasts 15 to 20 years or more. Heavy traffic, poor drainage and skipped maintenance shorten that.

How soon can I drive on new asphalt?

Cars can usually use a new residential driveway after a few days, and parking lots are reopened on a schedule we set with you. In Houston's summer heat, avoid heavy vehicles, sharp turns and parked trailers on fresh asphalt for longer.

Should I repair or replace my asphalt?

Surface cracks and isolated potholes can usually be repaired. If the pavement is broken up across large areas or the base has failed, resurfacing or full replacement is often the better value. We'll show you what we find.

Is asphalt or concrete better for a Houston driveway?

Asphalt usually costs less to install, is quicker to put in service and is easier to repair, while concrete typically costs more up front and needs less routine maintenance. HOA rules and the look you want also matter.

When should new asphalt be sealcoated?

New asphalt needs time to cure before it is sealed, typically several months. After that, sealcoating every two to three years is a common maintenance schedule.

Do you serve areas outside Houston?

Yes. We serve Houston and nearby communities including Katy, Sugar Land, The Woodlands, Spring, Cypress, Pearland and more. Confirm availability for your address when you request an estimate.

Asphalt Paving

How thick should new asphalt be?

It depends on the traffic. Driveways for cars need less than parking lots with delivery trucks or yards with heavy equipment. We size the asphalt and base for how the pavement will be used.

Can you pave over gravel?

Often, yes. Existing gravel can sometimes be regraded and compacted as part of the base, but it has to be the right material and depth. We check before recommending it.

How long does paving take?

Many driveways and small lots are paved in a day or two after prep. Larger projects with base work take longer and may be done in phases.

Parking Lot Paving

Can my business stay open while the lot is paved?

In most cases, yes. We pave in phases and can schedule work at night or on weekends to keep entrances and parking available.

What is an asphalt overlay?

A new layer of asphalt placed over an existing lot that is still structurally sound. It is usually faster and less costly than full replacement.

Do you stripe the lot after paving?

Yes, striping is coordinated after the asphalt has cured, so the lot reopens with clear spaces, fire lanes and accessible parking.

Asphalt Driveways

Is asphalt good for driveways in Houston?

Yes, as long as it has a solid base and good drainage. Asphalt handles Houston's soil movement well and is easy to repair if cracks appear.

How long before I can park on a new asphalt driveway?

Usually a few days for cars, longer for heavy vehicles. We'll give you specific timing based on the weather when we pave.

Can you replace part of a driveway?

Yes. Damaged sections can be cut out and repaved, though a full replacement may be better if the damage is widespread.

Asphalt Repair

Is cold patch good enough for potholes?

Cold patch is a temporary fix. A hot-mix repair with clean, square edges and a solid base lasts much longer.

Can you repair alligator cracking?

Small areas can be cut out and replaced. Widespread alligator cracking usually means the base has failed and resurfacing or replacement is needed.

Do you repair driveways as well as parking lots?

Yes. We repair residential driveways, commercial parking lots and private roads.

Asphalt Resurfacing

Resurfacing or replacement: which do I need?

If the base is sound and damage is mostly on the surface, resurfacing is usually the better value. If the base has failed in many places, replacement may be needed.

What is milling?

Milling grinds off the top layer of old asphalt so the new surface matches the height of curbs, gutters and building entrances.

Will cracks come back through the overlay?

Cracks in the old pavement can eventually reflect through. Repairing failed areas and sealing cracks first reduces that.

Sealcoating & Crack Sealing

How often should asphalt be sealcoated?

Every two to three years is a common schedule for parking lots and driveways, depending on traffic and sun exposure.

How long before I can drive on sealcoat?

Usually at least 24 hours, depending on temperature, humidity and the product. We'll confirm timing before we start.

Does sealcoating fix cracks?

No. Cracks need to be cleaned and sealed separately before sealcoating, which is why we do both together.
