Houston asphalt work, from first layout to final roll

Asphalt Houston Texas handles asphalt paving and maintenance for businesses, property managers, HOAs and homeowners in Houston and nearby communities. That includes new parking lots and driveways, overlays on worn pavement, pothole and base repairs, and sealcoating to protect what's already there.

Every job starts with the ground underneath. Houston's clay soils, heavy rain and summer heat are hard on pavement, so we look at drainage, the base and the traffic the surface will carry before recommending how to pave or repair it.

What makes asphalt last in Houston

Cross-section of a paved surface: asphalt over aggregate base over compacted subgrade, sloped so water drains off Slope sheds rainwater Hot-mix asphalt surface Compacted aggregate base Compacted subgrade Native clay soil
A typical paved section. Thickness of each layer depends on the traffic it carries.

A solid base

Most asphalt failures start below the surface. A compacted aggregate base sized for the traffic is what keeps pavement from rutting and cracking.

Water management

Standing water softens the base and breaks down the surface. Slope and drainage are planned into every paving job.

Proper thickness and compaction

Asphalt is placed hot and rolled while it is still workable, at a thickness matched to cars, delivery trucks or heavy equipment.

Regular maintenance

Crack sealing and sealcoating every few years slow down sun and water damage and stretch the life of the pavement.

Asphalt paving questions

How much does asphalt paving cost in Houston?

Cost depends on the area being paved, the base work needed, asphalt thickness, access for equipment, and whether old pavement has to be removed first. We give a written estimate after looking at the site.

How long does an asphalt driveway or parking lot last?

With a sound base, good drainage and regular maintenance, asphalt pavement commonly lasts 15 to 20 years or more. Heavy traffic, poor drainage and skipped maintenance shorten that.

How soon can I drive on new asphalt?

Cars can usually use a new residential driveway after a few days, and parking lots are reopened on a schedule we set with you. In Houston's summer heat, avoid heavy vehicles, sharp turns and parked trailers on fresh asphalt for longer.

Should I repair or replace my asphalt?

Surface cracks and isolated potholes can usually be repaired. If the pavement is broken up across large areas or the base has failed, resurfacing or full replacement is often the better value. We'll show you what we find.

Is asphalt or concrete better for a Houston driveway?

Asphalt usually costs less to install, is quicker to put in service and is easier to repair, while concrete typically costs more up front and needs less routine maintenance. HOA rules and the look you want also matter.

When should new asphalt be sealcoated?

New asphalt needs time to cure before it is sealed, typically several months. After that, sealcoating every two to three years is a common maintenance schedule.

Do you serve areas outside Houston?
